Hello, my name is Ethan Hoekstra, I am 29 years old and from Westminster Colorado.
Growing up, I have always had a passion for the arts. But mostly drawing, I was always a fan of cartoons and monsters like Godzilla, dinosaurs and you name it cartoons. I really enjoyed recreating them and redesigning, until I just went off and drew my own things. People were always impressed with what I could draw or how comically I was able to portray an idea. Then I became enthusiastic about drawing comic book characters with their own powers and abilities. That’s when I got into computer art. After a few years doing that I found little fulfilment in it, it was getting repetitive and all the inspirations were starting to overlap what I was doing. I began to lose originality.
After my lovely grandma had passed, who was an excellent painter, she left behind an arsenal of painting material and supplies. And that is what launched off my amazing journey in the traditional arts of painting. My talent was always known to be a God given gift. And the more I grew in painting the more grateful I grew in the gift He had given me.
Now, after 9 years of painting landscapes, animals, pet portraits, abstractions, and miscellaneous commissions, I have aimed to use my gift to help others in ways that only God can work through. I want to dedicate my life to him, because through my life he has been so good to me.
20% of all my art sales goes to charitable causes. Sharing the blessings is just one step in a huge direction for me, so any one who buys my art is a contributor to that cause.
