While growing up I discovered a strong love of nature and found its diverse beauty nourished my soul. Unable to find my own preferred style in the fashion trends of the time, I turned to sewing to create my own clothes. Later, collecting vintage jewelry inspired me to express my own personal style in hand crafted jewelry made from wire, metal, beads and stone.
I established Of the West Jewelry Design in 2004. My specialty is creating handmade beaded chains, inspired by the beauty of nature and humanity, especially the western landscape and the spirit of those who call the west their home. Each chain is meticulously crafted from sterling silver, argentium silver, 14K gold or gold-filled wire and pearls, crystals, semi-precious stones and unique beads. Occasionally, I combine my chains with lapidary, stone setting and silversmithing techniques to create one of a kind artisan jewelry. Pieces are named after their inspiration, such as “Snow and Ice,” “White Water,” “Watercolor Garden,” and “Alpine Delica.”
Heirloom Rescue is my answer to that box of vintage and broken jewelry left to us or collected from those special women in our lives. I rescue the components and create new treasures in traditional or contemporary styles to be worn again in their honor.
